Alan Todd

Managing Director/ Head of CMBS Strategy

MERRILL LYNCH

Alan Todd is head of U.S. Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) Research. In this role, he is responsible for generating high-level, relative value and trade specific research recommendations regarding cash, synthetic and non-CUSIP investments to external and internal clients. He also focuses on providing macro-level overviews and in-depth analysis of the CMBS and commercial real estate markets. Alan brings more than 16 years of CMBS experience to this role and is highly regarded for his recommendations and timely market calls. Alan correctly called the recovery of the CMBS market since the 2009 bottom and the decline of the CMBS market in 2008. Alan has garnered a top-two ranking among CMBS analysts each year since 2007 according to the Institutional Investor All-America Fixed Income Research team survey and ranked No. 1 for CMBS each year since 2009. Alan joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in August of 2011 from J.P. Morgan, where he was head of CMBS research since 2005. Prior to that he spent five years at Bear Stearns, also in CMBS Research. Alan received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University, his Master’s degree in Finance from Vanderbilt University and is a CFA Charter holder.

Brad Bloom

Brad Bloom is a Managing Director in the Commercial Real Estate Finance Group at Citi, where he is involved in both the origination and syndication of new financings throughout North America for both CMBS and balance sheet execution. In his current role, he is responsible for managing the pricing, structuring and distribution of all subordinated debt originated by the group, including mezzanine loans, B-notes, rake bonds and risk retention bonds. Mr. Bloom has also been involved in the origination, structuring and execution of more than $15 billion of CMBS and balance sheet financings on behalf of a wide range of institutional sponsors. Prior to joining Citi in 2007, Mr. Bloom worked at BRT Realty Trust where he focused on the origination of commercial real estate bridge loans. Mr. Bloom earned a BS in Urban Studies from Cornell University.

Douglas Lyons

Doug Lyons is a Managing Principal of Pearlmark, with responsibility for the firm's capital markets and debt investment activities. He is also a member of the firm's Investment and Management Committees. Prior to joining the firm in 1996, Mr. Lyons was Vice President of Equity Institutional Investors, Inc. where he was responsible for merchant banking activities. Previously, he worked in the New York Real Estate Capital Markets groups for Bankers Trust Company and Merrill Lynch & Co.

Mr. Lyons earned a BA from Amherst College and a MBA from Harvard University. He is a member and Trustee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and a member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA). In addition Mr. Lyons is currently or has been a Trustee and member of several non-profit boards, including the Loomis Chaffee School, Lycee Francais de Chicago and St. James Cathedral.

 

John Randall

Randall is the Founder and Managing Partner of Reeds Bay Investment Group (“ReedsBay”), where he oversees the firm’s investment process and drives capital formation.  Headquartered in New York, with a presence in Philadelphia and Miami; ReedsBay is a minority-owned and led platform that designs and manages commercial real estate (“CRE”) investment strategies on behalf of institutions, family offices, and other clients.  For CRE sponsors with compelling projects, ReedsBay provides reliable capital, with a focus on flexibility and alignment.

Nicholas Hoffman

Nick Hoffman is a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group in the New York office of Haynes and Boone. Nick regularly represents investment banks, commercial banks, and foreign and domestic private equity clients in sophisticated real estate transactions, including structured loans, mezzanine loans, construction financing, preferred equity investments and joint ventures. Nick devotes a significant portion of his practice to capital markets and syndication work in the debt space including note sales, intercreditor arrangements and participations. Nick also has experience with debt restructurings work-outs, and single asset and portfolio acquisitions and dispositions.

Before joining the firm, Nick was a senior executive with the Ruben Companies, a Manhattan based developer, and was involved in all aspects of the management and development of its office and residential portfolio in New York, Washington, D.C. and Boston.

Jeffrey Wiseman

Jeff Wiseman is a Managing Director and Head of U.S. Real Estate Debt for H.I.G. Realty Partners,an affiliate of H.I.G. Capital, a leading global alternative investment firm with $45 billion of equity capital under management.  H.I.G. Realty Partners originates and invests in senior transitional loans, mezzanine loans and preferred equity.  H.I.G. Realty Partners will look at all asset classes (industrial, multifamily, office, hotels, retail, student housing, condominiums, including construction) in the Top 30+ markets across the United States.

Mr. Wiseman is responsible for all aspects of the investment process, including origination, structuring, closing and oversight of the portfolio.  Jeff has been in the commercial real estate industry for over 20 years having served in multiple capacities and various leadership roles.

Before joining H.I.G., Jeff was a Managing Director at Allegiant Real Estate Capital, LP, serving as the Chief Credit Officer and Head of Asset Management.  Previously, he served in similar capacities at FirstKey Lending, LLC and Macquarie Group.  Prior to Macquarie Group, Jeff was a Director at J.E. Robert Company, Inc. where he was Co-Head of Mezzanine Lending for JER Investors Trust, Inc. and a member of JER’s U.S. Debt Fund Investment Committee.

Cary has 20+ years of experience in different facets of commercial real estate ranging from structured
finance to design and development. Currently Cary is a Managing Director of CRE Capital Markets,
Trading & Syndication at Starwood Capital. His current responsibilities including pricing, structuring and capital commitment for the acquisition and sale of CRE debt for the Starwood REIT. He is also responsibility financing and sales efforts of whole loans via private sales and the CMBS market as well as managing the warehouse lines for the REIT.

Prior to joining Starwood Cary was a Partner at Coastal Capital (2009 to 2010) where he managed the process of acquiring performing, sub-performing and non-performing CRE debt. From 2004 to 2008 Cary was an Executive Vice President with Countryside CRE Finance and was responsible for the pricing, structuring and sale of all fixed and floating rate high yield commercial real estate debt.
Prior to joining Countrywide Cary was a Partner at Coastal Capital Partners; a Managing Director for
Precept Corporation, Vice President of Structured Finance at Nomura Asset Capital; Senior Consultant at Deloitte and Touche; Project Designer for The SWA Group and Sasaki Associates.

Randall Drain Jr.

Randall is the Managing Partner and Founder of Reeds Bay Investment Group (“ReedsBay”), where he developed and oversees the firm’s investment process. In addition, Randall drives capital formation for all manifestations of the firm’s investment strategies. Launching ReedsBay is a mile marker on an inter-generational journey propelled by Randall’s curiosity, candor, persistence, and growth. In pursuit of excellence and impact, Randall draws on his diligence, process-orientation, competitiveness, and commitment to stewardship.

 

Prior to ReedsBay, Randall was a member of the acquisitions team at Madison International Realty, a New York-based real estate private equity firm with over $3.5 billion in assets under management. Randall led investment underwriting and select capital raising efforts for more than $700 million of transactions throughout the United States and Europe. Randall started his post-MBA career at Deutsche Bank in the Real Estate Investment Banking group, where he structured and executed financing solutions for real estate and hospitality clients. He also worked on the asset management team at PNC Realty Investors, which was responsible for making business and financial ownership decisions affecting $2.4 billion of commercial real estate, on behalf of its Limited Partner the AFL-CIO.

Randall earned his master’s degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he concentrated in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He holds a B.A. in Public Policy Studies from Duke University, where he was a Robertson Scholar and a varsity athlete. Randall completed the 2018 New York Marathon, several ½ marathons, and other competitive runs. He also hits the slopes regularly to channel his athletic drive and love for the outdoors.

Randall’s civic commitments include his service on the Boards of Directors and Trustees at the Haverford School and To Our Children Future with Health, respectively. Both are based in his hometown of Philadelphia. He also remains actively engaged as an alumnus of the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program, Robert Toigo Foundation, and Management Leadership for Tomorrow.

David Eyzenberg

David Eyzenberg is president of Eyzenberg & Company, the industry’s leading ground lease & capital advisory firm delivering full capital stack solutions for existing, transitional, and to-be-built commercial real estate projects.

Prior to Avison Young, Mr. Eyzenberg was a managing director and head of commercial real estate for NewOak Capital. His tenure at NewOak began in 2011 after its acquisition of the investment banking practice of Eyzenberg’s Prodigious Capital Group, where he served as president since 2005. Prior to running Prodigious Capital Group, Mr. Eyzenberg was associated with several boutique real estate investment banks. He began his real estate career on the buy side working for Merrill Lynch, Ramius Capital Group and Greenstreet Partners.

Mr. Eyzenberg graduated from New York University with a Bachelor's degree in communications and a Master's degree in real estate finance and investment. Mr. Eyzenberg is an active member of multiple industry associations and a frequent speaker at real estate events. Jeremy Fox

Jeremy Fox is a Partner on the LP Coverage & Capital Markets team at Fifth Wall, where he focuses on strategic partnerships and capital markets.

Prior to joining Fifth Wall, Jeremy was Co-Head of Real Estate Gaming & Lodging Investment Banking at Credit Suisse and Head of US Equity Capital Markets at Deutsche Bank. Jeremy also worked at Goldman Sachs in Institutional Equity Sales. He started his career at Ernst & Young in the Kenneth Leventhal Real Estate Group.

Jeremy was born in New Orleans and currently lives in Englewood, NJ. He graduated from Yeshiva University with a BS in Accounting.

Raphael Fishbach

Mr. Fishbach is a Principal of the originations team at Mesa West and heads the East Coast origination platform. Prior to joining Mesa West in 2010, Mr. Fishbach spent three years at Ramius LLC, an $8 billion asset management firm based in New York City with a specialty investment platform in real estate. As Director of Ramius’ Real Estate Group, Mr. Fishbach’s responsibilities included deal sourcing, origination and underwriting, negotiation of acquisitions, joint ventures and financings, as well as asset management. Mr. Fishbach was responsible for over $500 million of transactions. Previous to Ramius, Mr. Fishbach was at Wells Fargo Bank in the Real Estate Merchant Banking Group from 2000 to 2006, both in Los Angeles and New York. As a Vice President, Mr. Fishbach’s primary responsibilities included sourcing, structuring, negotiating, closing and managing senior loans, mezzanine loans and preferred equity investments on various types of commercial real estate assets. Gary Zimmerman

Senior Vice President & Chief Underwriting Counsel - UCC Plus

A leading authority on Articles 8 and 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code and UCC Insurance, Gary supervises the UCCPlus team and participates in all of the company’s underwriting and policies.

As the Chief Underwriting Counsel for UCCPlus, Gary reviews and evaluates transaction structure and provides feedback on the insurability of real estate mezzanine loan transactions, project finance and energy transactions, and major-market working capital and term loans. He also advises outside counsel and major commercial lenders on UCC matters. In addition, Gary provides input to the Fidelity National Title Group companies on secured lending and UCC Articles 8 and 9 issues.

A practicing attorney since 1982, Gary is a frequent lecturer on matters involving Articles 8 and 9 of the UCC, commercial lending practices, UCC foreclosure rules and practice, and the terms, conditions and exclusions of personal property title insurance and endorsements. He is also on the faculty of the Commercial Finance Association’s Professional Education Programs.

Gary is a member of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and a member of the Chicago Bar Association. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Drake University and his law degree from DePaul University College of Law.

Drew D. Fung, equity owner and Managing Director, is the co-Portfolio Manager for Clarion’s
Debt Investment Fund. He oversees the Firm’s subordinate debt investment activities in
various types of commercial real estate debt instruments, including mezzanine loans, B-notes
and preferred equity interests. Drew is a member of the Debt Investment Committee, which
approves all of the Firm’s financing activities, and a member of Clarion’s ESG Committee and

Rusty represents traditional and non-traditional lenders in a variety of transactions, including syndicated and single-lender corporate and ABL credit facilities, CMBS loans, bridge loans, life co. balance sheet loans, and mezzanine loans. He also represents lenders active in the convenience/retail petroleum industry and restaurant industry providing acquisition, working capital, letter of credit facilities, and other types of financing. Rusty has also assisted a number of clients with designing, establishing, and launching new loan programs.
