The real estate market is expected to experience an increase in demand for alternative financing in 2021 as a result of increased debt and inadequate exit planning strategies. This session will explore the opportunities for alternative lenders over the short- to mid-term including:

  • Defining the current debt funding gap: where are we?
  • Forecasting a shift in the debt market as a result of more conservative bank lending and an increased shift from consumer-focused assets.
  • Understanding the shift to more short- term loans; will non-bank lenders take a larger market share in mezzanine loans and refinancing a larger part of senior loans.
  • Assessment of risk mitigation strategies.
  • The development, structuring and financing of alternative financing transactions.
  • Refining the approach towards negotiations and due diligence.
