Preston serves as Executive Vice President, leading Bailard's real estate investment efforts. His responsibilities include portfolio management, new investment sourcing and overseeing the evaluation, due-diligence, and closing of acquisitions and dispositions.

Preston brings over 30 years of experience in the real estate investment and advisory business. Prior to joining Bailard, he was an Executive Vice President and Principal at Kennedy Associates (now Bentall Kennedy). He was a member of Kennedy’s Executive and Investment committees and Portfolio Manager for Kennedy’s $8BN Open-End Diversified Core Equity Fund. Before Kennedy, Preston was a Vice President and Regional Team Leader at GE Investments where he bought, financed, managed and sold over $2BN in assets across all property types. He has held positions in acquisitions, asset management and debt workout at Aetna Realty Investors, William Blair Realty and LaSalle Partners.
Preston is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers (NAREIM), where he has served on the Board of Directors since 2013. Over the past 20 years he has been a frequent speaker, moderator and panelist at industry conferences, a guest lecturer at graduate programs of Columbia University and the University of Washington, and a judge at University of Texas Graduate School’s annual National Real Estate Challenge. Preston holds a JD Degree from Case Western Reserve University and a BA Degree from Colorado College. He is married, has three grown children and enjoys skiing, golf, hiking and climbing.
Greg is a Senior Vice President in the investment management and acquisitions group. He has 33 years of professional experience.

Prior to Torchlight, Greg worked at Ossipee Capital, WestRiver Capital Management, Brookfield Asset Management, Ocwen Financial Corporation and John Alden Life Insurance Corporation. Greg holds an MBA from the University of Miami and a BA from the University of Richmond.
Founder of The Praedium Group, Mr. Appel has been building the Company since 1991 and has overseen all aspects of The Praedium Group’s activities, including its strategy and its investment policy.

In addition to his responsibilities with The Praedium Group, Mr. Appel ran Credit Suisse/First Boston’s (“CS”) Commercial Mortgage Finance business from 1991 to 1994, where he became a Managing Director. At CS, Mr. Appel supervised the execution of commercial and multifamily asset securitization and sale advisory assignments totaling in excess of $13 billion. Prior to joining CS in 1991 and his association with The Praedium Group, Mr. Appel was a Vice President in the Real Estate Department of Goldman Sachs & Co. for five years. At Goldman Sachs, he was involved in real estate-related sales, financings, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions totaling in excess of $3 billion.
Mr. Appel holds a B.S. in Economics (magna cum laude) and an M.B.A. (with distinction) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Appel served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pension Real Estate Association between 2008 and 2010, and he had previously held the positions of Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Board Member.
Peter Ciganik is a Managing Director at GTIS. He leads the Investor Relations and Client Services functions across the Firm's investment vehicles. In addition, Mr. Ciganik is responsible for the Firm's macro and investment research, global strategy and new business development.
Prior to joining GTIS in 2007, Mr. Ciganik worked with Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds (MSREF) in London, and with Lehman Brothers Real Estate Partners (LBREP) in New York. In his prior engagements, Mr. Ciganik was responsible for the evaluation, financial modeling and due diligence of equity and mezzanine debt investments, participating in the acquisition of over $800 million of individual and portfolio assets. Before LBREP, Mr. Ciganik worked with Lehman’s Corporate Strategy and Acquisitions group, and as a business analyst with McKinsey & Co. in Frankfurt and New York. Mr. Ciganik graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College and received an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
